Part 2 Cultures Agenda

Penned Truth: The most destructive part of the world’s secular agenda is this: to convince the Church that it must not be too Christian, especially in public.

Aiden Wilson Tozer said, “One compromise here, another there and soon enough the so-called Christian and the man in the world look the same.”

Penned Truth: A Christian can sit in a service like this one while living in compromise and not be moved to change.

Billy Graham once said, “The very ones whose social pressure cause you to compromise will despise you for it.”

Matthew 5:14-15 (ESV) 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

Daniel 1:1, 3-4 (ESV) 1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.  3 Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, his chief eunuch, to bring some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility, 4 youths without blemish, of good appearance and skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king’s palace, and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.

Daniel 1:5 (NLT) 5 The king assigned them a daily ration of food and wine from his own kitchens. They were to be trained for three years, and then they would enter the royal service.

Penned Statement: We must not allow the world’s secular agenda to change our name from committed Christian to compromising Christian.

Daniel 1:8–9 (ESV) 8 But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. 9 And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs,

Daniel 1:10–16 (ESV) 10 and the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who assigned your food and your drink; for why should he see that you were in worse condition than the youths who are of your own age? So you would endanger my head with the king.” 11 Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had assigned over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12 “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then let our appearance and the appearance of the youths who eat the king’s food be observed by you, and deal with your servants according to what you see.” 14 So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days. 15 At the end of ten days it was seen that they were better in appearance and fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate the king’s food. 16 So the steward took away their food and the wine they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.

Psalm 16:8 (KJV) 8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Psalm 62:6 (KJV) 6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved.

Penned Truth: When the pressure from the world’s secular culture comes to shift us onto a different path, we must reaffirm our convictions.

John 17:17 (NLT) 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.

Final Statement: Church God is calling us to walk in the standards set forth by the Book. Without walking in the truth of the Gospel, compromise grabs, and we slowly begin to walk a life that is tainted. Without walking in the truth of the Gospel, moral standards fall; biblical standards fall. Truth in scripture keeps us free and strong; truth in us is light to a dark world that needs a savior, Christ Jesus. Do not compromise; remember, you are Christ’s ambassadors to a hurting, broken world.
