Part 1 Cultures Agenda
Penned Truth: The most destructive part of the world’s secular agenda is this: to convince the Church that it must not be too Christian, especially in public.
Aiden Wilson Tozer said, “One compromise here, another there and soon enough the so-called Christian and the man in the world look the same.”
Aiden Wilson Tozer also said, “True obedience is the refusal to compromise in any regard our relationship with God, regardless of the consequences.”
Matthew 5:14-15 (ESV) 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
Penned Truth: We must live in the world but not become like it.
Daniel 1:1–2 (ESV) 1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the vessels of the house of God. And he brought them to the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, and placed the vessels in the treasury of his god.
Daniel 1:3–4 (ESV) 3 Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, his chief eunuch, to bring some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility, 4 youths without blemish, of good appearance and skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king’s palace, and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.
Daniel 1:5 (NLT) 5 The king assigned them a daily ration of food and wine from his own kitchens. They were to be trained for three years, and then they would enter the royal service.
Daniel 1:6 (NLT) 6 Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were four of the young men chosen, all from the tribe of Judah.
Penned Truth: We see an attempt to indoctrinate a different culture, a different belief system, into the next generation to wipe out the memory of God.
Proverbs 7:2-3 (AMPCE) 2 Keep my commandments and live, and keep my law and teaching as the apple (the pupil) of your eye. 3 Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
Daniel 1:7 (ESV) 7 And the chief of the eunuchs gave them names: Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called Meshach, and Azariah he called Abednego.
Matthew 5:13-15 (AMP) 13 “You are the [a]salt of the earth; but if the salt has [b]lost its taste (purpose), how can it be made salty? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and walked on by people [when the walkways are wet and slippery]. 14 “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Titus 1:16 (CEB) 16 They claim to know God, but they deny God by the things that they do.
2 Corinthians 13:5 (AMP) 5 Test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as [committed] believers.
Penned Question: Are we more concerned with pleasing the world’s secular culture to make things easier, or are we more concerned about pleasing God?
Final Statement: The Church is called to rise above the world’s culture, which clashes with the values of God’s kingdom. The Bible teaches a transformed way of living that we must hold to each day. Transforming our thinking, what we desire, and setting us apart from worldly patterns. By doing so, we strengthen our faith and enhance our effectiveness in fulfilling our mission, elevating hope one person at a time. Bring fresh hope through Jesus Christ.
