Dig Deeper Part 1

Jim Cymbala- “The tendency today is to merely splash around in truth for a while . . . and then jump outside the well… never really probing the depth of the living waters inside.”

Penned Truth: Digging deeper into God’s Word (truth) is work, rather than surface skimming, so it is not so popular.

Psalm 37:4 KJV Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart”. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

Penned Truth: When all you see in front of you is more dirt to dig, putting the shovel down is tempting.

Dig Deeper Truth #1- Align Yourself With God’s Intentions

Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) 10 For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

Penned Truth: To firmly align with God’s intentions, we must stop talking about doing it and make prayer a priority.

Thomas Watson – Prayer delights God’s ears; it melts his heart; and opens his hand. God cannot deny a praying soul.

Penned Truth: I have learned that God loves to answer prayers; the question is, are we aligned with His intentions? Are we complaining, or are we digging?

Psalm 145:18 (ESV) 18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Psalm 145:18 (ESV) 18 …. to all who call on him in truth.

John 15:7 (ESV) 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

John 15:7 (EXB) 7 If you ·remain [abide] in me and ·follow my teachings [L my words abide/remain in you], you can ask anything you want, and it will ·be given to [be done for; come to] you.

John 15:7 (MSG) 7 But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon.

KJV Dictionary Definition | Abide: To continue permanently or in the same state; to be firm and immovable.

Final Statement: Never stop digging, dig, dig, dig. Never stop digging into God’s Word. Never stop digging in prayer. Dig by praying the Word of God. We must be a Church of Great Depth; let’s be a people who are deep diggers. Don’t let the hardness of the way stop you in your tracks. The day is coming when what you desire most will become your reality. I chose never to stop digging. How about you?
