Acts 16:22-24 (ESV) 22 The crowd joined in attacking them, and the magistrates tore the garments off them and gave orders to beat them with rods. 23 And when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, ordering the jailer to keep them safely. 24 Having received this order, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

Acts 16:25-28 (ESV) 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, 26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened. 27 When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.”

Truth #1: Biblical teaching, says, put the needs of others first. Serve others.

Mark 10:45 (AMPCE) 45 For even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for ([a]instead of) many.

Kingdom Fact: There’s more joy in serving than there is in being served.

Romans 1:1 (NLT)  1 This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus,

Romans 1:1 (NKJV)  1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ,

Luke 22:24-30 (NKJV)  24 Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ 26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. 27 For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

Philippians 2:3 (ESV) 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Truth #2  Hey, Cory You Get To Make Sacrifices For Others, Putting Them First, This Will Be Fun!

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 (ESV) 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a]

Philippians 2:3-4 (AMP) 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important than yourselves. 4 Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Truth #3 Serving others means making space for their existence and seeing them as valuable and worthy.

Benefits of Putting Others First

1. Serving allows us to experience miracles.

2. Serving allows us to experience new levels of joy and peace.

3. Serving helps us to be more like Jesus.

4. Serving increases our faith.

5. Serving is good for your soul.

Finial Statement: It’s really important wherever we are to always put others before ourselves, whether it’s the young lady at Walmart or the guy at What-A-Burger or your neighbor or basically anyone we’re around. As Christians this is one of our key responsibilities. We are to serve rather than to be served, it’s the Christ way of living.

Communion-

John 13:4-8 (ESV) 4 rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
