4.     God is getting ready to do something good

Pastor Cory

Acts 16:6–10 (ESV) 6 And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. 7 And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. 8 So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Clear Point: God’s “nos” allow His “yesses.”

Penned Truth: And we can’t always see how the “yes” will happen at the point we submit ourselves to a “no.”

C.S. LEWIS- What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.

3 Truths Concerning Perseverance

1st When you persevere in faith, you display God’s glory.

2 Corinthians 4:6 (ESV) 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2nd We can persevere as Christians because we’re powered by extraordinary fuel.

2 Corinthians 4:7 (NET) 7 But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that the extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.

2 Corinthians 4:7 (ESV) 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

Philippians 4:13 (ESV). 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

3rd One, Christian’s example of perseverance can encourage hundreds of other believers to keep going.

2 Corinthians 4:15 (ESV) 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

Final Statement: Church, it’s not about me, and it’s not about you. It is about God and how God works through you and me, helping us to persevere in transmitting our faith, persevere in difficult times, remember what Jesus Christ has done for us, and persevere in the face of God’s promises to us. Those who persevere have a bright future ahead. Why? Because He is Faithful to His promises.
