Who Is God – Part 7
*One of those powerful names is “Jehovah Rapha.”
*The Name: The Hebrew word rophe or rapha means “heal, “cure,” “restore,” or “make whole.”
Exodus 15:26 (ESV) “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer.”
*Rapha means “to heal” “to make whole” “to properly mend by stitching” and “to repair.” God does all of these things for us through His healing power.
*In the New Testament, the corresponding Greek word is iaomai and it can refer to deliverance from death, demons, sickness, and sin.
Genesis 20:17 NLT 17 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants, so they could have children.
Jeremiah 30:17 NLT I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,” says the LORD. “For you are called an outcast— ‘Jerusalem[a] for whom no one cares.’”
Isaiah 61:1 NKJV “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to [a]heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Psalm 103:3 NLT He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
*Jehovah Rapha is all-encompassing – to heal; spirit, soul, and body, to forgive, restore, deliver, and set the captive free!
*Jesus was and is the fulfillment of Jehovah Rapha!
