Part 5 Who Is God
Billy Graham- Most of us know about God, but that is quite different from knowing God.
What God Said
Penned Truth: God’s Names contain tremendous power, and we must use them.
His Name Is Jehovah Shammah- “The Lord Is There “
C.S. Lewis- “We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade, the presence of God. The world is crowded with him. He walks everywhere incognito.
Penned Truth: This name promises His presence every moment of every day.
Immanuel- “God With Us”
Penned Truth: He is always with you; God sees, knows, and cares.
See What See- Jehovah Shammah + Immanuel = God is with me here and there and everywhere 24/7. He never vacations, slumbers, or sleeps. He is with us.
Prayer- Jehovah-Shammah, Immanuel, thank you for being the One who is already there and goes with me now. Thank you for the hope I have that you will not fail or forsake me. Thank you for the strength I find in your presence today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Deuteronomy 31:8 (EXB) 8 The Lord himself will go before you. He will be with you; he will not ·leave [fail] you or ·forget [abandon; forsake] you. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry.”
1) God is not blind to your circumstances
2 Chronicles 16:9a (ESV) 9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.
Penned Truth- Jehovah Shammah/Immanuel sees us! He is an all-knowing, ever-present God who is continually aware of every detail of our lives.
2) God has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again and again.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 (ESV) 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
Two Questions: Are there any areas where we have reached exhaustion? Could we be refusing to rely on Jehovah Shammah/Immanuel?
Psalm 111:7 (AMP) 7 The works of His hands are truth and [absolute] justice; All His precepts are sure (established, reliable, trustworthy).
Psalm 118:6 (ESV) 6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
Isaiah 26:3 (ESV) 3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
True Story: Sara was singing during worship when she became acutely aware of the words coming from her lips, “He walks with me, and talks with me, and tells me I am His own.” And she realized that she was NOT walking with Him, and she was NOT talking to Him. And she did NOT yet really belong to Him. At the end of that service, she ran down the aisle to give her life to Jesus as HER Lord & Savior and make sure that God was “with her.”
