Part 2 Truth- #URLOVED
1 Peter 1:18 (MSG) 18 Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep (very intense-extreme) consciousness (fully active in our and senses) of God.
1 Peter 1:18–19 (NLT) 18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
Penned Truth: We are not here to prove God answers prayers; Christians are to be living testimonies of God’s saving grace.
1 Corinthians 10:16 (KJV 1900) 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
Penned Truth: I ask myself, “Are you aware that you should be fully sharing and full of thanksgiving while receiving communion?
Saint Augustine- Christ held Himself in His hands when He gave His Body to His disciples, saying: ‘This is My Body.’ No one partakes of this Flesh before he has adored it.
1 Corinthians 11:17–22 (ESV) 17 But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part, 19 for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized. 20 When you come together, it is not the Lord’s supper that you eat. 21 For in eating, each one goes ahead with his own meal. One goes hungry, another gets drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this? No, I will not.
1 Corinthians 11:23 (MSG) 23 Let me go over with you again exactly what goes on in the Lord’s Supper and why it is so centrally important.
1 Corinthians 11:23 (ESV) 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,
1 Corinthians 11:24 (ESV) 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
Isaiah 53:5 (ESV) 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
1 Corinthians 11:25 (ESV) 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
William J. Seymour- Let us honor the blood of Jesus Christ every moment of our lives….
1 Corinthians 11:26 (ESV) 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Penned- The Lord’s Supper is a visible sermon proclaiming, “the message of the Cross.” When we take communion, we preach a sermon reminder – to the Devil and all his allies and the world who watches. And sometimes, we are preaching the reminder to ourselves.
