Take Authority
2-22-2026
My Thought: Jesus has given us authority. We need to take it and not allow fear to rule our lives. The devil wants to keep us in bondage to fear so we will be defeated. We must take authority over it and live in victory over the devil.
Psalm 23:4 (NKJV) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Deut. 31:8 (NKJV) And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.
Acronym for Fear:
F – false
E – evidence
A – appearing
R – real
Quote from Sarah Holliday: Just as fear cripples us physically and mentally, it devastates our spiritual vitality. It blinds us to God’s presence, as if a veil covers our eyes. It deafens us to His voice, muffling the whispers of comfort and guidance. Fear causes chaos and panic and often wounds us deeply.
Luke 9:1 (NKJV) Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
1st Requirement: Surrender & Obedience – If you have surrendered your life to Jesus and have made Him Lord of your life then you are His disciple and you have that same power and authority over demons, therefore, you have authority over the spirit of fear.
The Great Commission: Mark 16:17-18 (NKJV) 17 (Jesus said) And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
2nd Requirement: Submission
James 4:7 (NKJV) Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Tim. 1:7 (AMP) – For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
1 John 4:18 (AMP)18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].
Key Revelation: Faith Works Through Love (Gal. 5:6)! Without love, faith is powerless. God works everything through love, and His love dispels fear. But faith, working through love, gives us confidence in the power and authority He’s given us.
Hebrews 13:6 (AMP) 6 So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?
Matt. 10:28 (NKJV) 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Quote: We have learned that suffering is not the worst thing in the world – disobedience to God is the worst. – Vietnamese Christian Pastor imprisoned for his faith.
Psalm 34:4 (NLT) 4 I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.
Phil. 4:6-7 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Phil. 4:6-7 (NLT) 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Richelle’s Thought: Worry/anxiety is fear – fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of the future, fear of the past, fear of man, fear of poverty or lack, fear of sickness and disease, fear of death – there are many fears, but rather than fear, pray and give it to God. Worry and fear negate faith – fear works against faith. When we are worried or anxious we are fearful. Worry and the prayer of faith cannot work together. When you find yourself worrying, bind the fear and pray and declare the Word of God over the situation.
Keys to the Kingdom:
1. Submission and Obedience to God
2. Pray – pray the Word of God in faith (His Word is our weapon)
3. Take authority over fear in Jesus’ name
4. Be Thankful. Thank God for your freedom. Have a heart & attitude of thankfulness and gratitude.
