Part 1 Summer Series/Life-Giver

Psalm 36:9 (AMP) 9 For with You is the fountain of life [the fountain of life-giving water]; In Your light we see light.

Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with Great Love.

Life-Giver | Collins English Dictionary: strengthening; refreshing; inspiring, supporting, sustaining, and enabling life.

Penned Truth: When we choose to be a life-giver, we prefer that which is good and that which is a blessing.

1st Life-Giving Looks- God wants your countenance to reflect His.

1 Corinthians 11:1 (ESV) Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

#2 Life-Giving Words- God wants us to speak life.

Proverbs 18:20–21 (NLT) 20 Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction. 21 The tongue can bring death or life;

Proverbs 10:11 (MSG) 11 The mouth of a good person is a deep, life-giving well, but the mouth of the wicked is a dark cave of abuse.

Proverbs 15:4 (NLT) 4 Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

James 3:7–10 (ESV) 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

Penned Truth: Words are important. After all, God created the universe with words. He spoke, and it was so.

Proverbs 12:25 (NLT) 25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.

Proverbs 16:24 (NLT) 24 Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

Pastor Ray Pritchard said once, “With your words, you either say something worthwhile or something that is not worth anything at all.”

            •           Yield Your Tongue To God. Have you ever done that?

Psalm 19:14 (ESV) 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

            •           Memorize James 1:19 (ESV) 19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;

3.         Ask Your Spouse – Ask A Friend To Hold You Accountable.

Proverbs 22:4 (ESV) 4 The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life.

Penned: Our relationships, no matter how messy, give us a choice. We can either be life-givers or life-takers. The bottom line is we are all called to be life-givers, not life-takers! Being a life-giver doesn’t take talent; it just takes an open and loving heart. Today we get to choose to pour life into the relationships God has placed in our path. Ask God to help you be a Life-Giver.
