Things To Clean Up In 2023

1 Corinthians 11:27–28 (ESV) 27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

Job 13:23 (ESV) 23 How many are my iniquities and my sins? Make me know my transgression and my sin.

1.         Confess our faults and sins

Psalm 51:1-5 (ESV)  Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

1 John 1:9 ESV  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2.         Repent and walk away

Matthew 3:8 (AMPCE) 8 Bring forth fruit that is consistent with repentance [let your lives prove your change of heart];

Acts 3:19 (AMP) 19 So repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God—seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day];

3.         Next step forgiveness

Psalm 32:5 ESV I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Psalm 86:5 ESV For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

Ephesians 1:7 ESV  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

4.         To grow in grace

Penned Truth: To grow in grace is to mature as a Christian.

2 Peter 3:18 (ESV) 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…

Penned Truth: Self-examination, rightly pursued, will bring significant benefits to your Christian life.
