PART 3 ORISON

Billy Graham – “At its deepest level, prayer is fellowship with God: enjoying His company, waiting upon His will, thanking Him for His mercies . . . listening in the silence for what He has to say to us.”

Billy Graham – “Pray because Christ died to give us access to the Father.”

Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Thesaurus | Persistence: Continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition, or previous failure

Luke 11:5-10 (ESV) 5 And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. 9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

D.L. Moody – “Some people think God does not like to be troubled with our constant coming and asking. The way to trouble God is not to come at all.”

Luke 18:1-8 (ESV) Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ 4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!'” 6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.

Alistair Begg – “Endurance is a key indicator of spiritual fitness.”

Penned Truth: The answer to our orison is to keep knocking, keep coming to the table, keep asking, keep listening silently, with persistence and endurance.

Penned Truth: Resilient people are going to power through to the other side.

Proverbs 24:16  for the righteous falls seven times and rises again….

Hebrews 11:1 (AMPCE) 11 Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, [a]the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Ending Statement: Are you close to quitting your prayer life? Have you stopped trying to hear God’s voice? Don’t you dare stop! Hang in there. Roll up your sleeves and get back in there. Come back to the table and dwell and commune with God. Coming to the table is a journey of personal growth and transformation, so do not quit. Never give up. Keep going. Hold on. Sit down at the table.
