Hope | KJ Dictionary: To place confidence in; to trust in with confident expectation of good; the highest degree of an expectation of good; a hope founded on God’s gracious promises.

A Faith Anchored To Hope

Hebrews 6:18 (AMP) 18 so that by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge would have strong encouragement and indwelling strength to hold tightly to the hope set before us.

Truth #1: Since it is impossible for God to lie, both His promise and His oath will come to pass.

Hebrews 6:18 (EXB) 18 These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he makes a promise, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. These things greatly encourage us, who ·came [L have fled] to God for safety, to hold on to the hope ·we have been given [L set before us].

Truth #2: He cannot violate His own integrity. We can count on His promises to us.

Psalm 119:114 (ESV) 114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.

Truth #3: when you’re anchored to hope, God will make things happen that you could never make happen.

Hebrews 11:1 (ESV) 11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Psalm 42:5 (ESV) 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul… Hope in God

Isaiah 49:23 (ISV) 23 … I am the Lord; those who hope in me will not be disappointed

Zechariah 9:12 (NIV) 12 Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.

Truth #4: I’d rather go through life anchored to hope than anchored to fear, worry, bitterness.

Romans 15:13 (AMP) 13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.

Final Statement: My first question today is, do you have your anchor down? Do you have this hope, one with expectancy, that you’re going to accomplish your dreams?  A hope that sees you breaking the addiction, one that sees your family restored.  My second question today is, have you pulled up your anchor? Are you drifting  into doubt, not expecting anything good? I’m asking you to put your anchor back down today.
