Red Letters: Jesus Is Life

Pastor Richelle Smithee

John 14:6 (NLT) 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Richelle’s Thought: Jesus is Life!  His Words are life!  He brings life out of nothing. He brings life out of dead things, even out of ashes.  He has resurrection power, and He has given that same power to us!

John 11:25 (NLT) Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.

Romans 8:11 (NLT) 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

John 16: 22-24 (NLT) 22 So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy. 23 At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. 24 You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.

John 16: 26-27 (NLT) 26 Then you will ask in my name. I’m not saying I will ask the Father on your behalf, 27 for the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God.

Richelle’s Thoughts: Jesus made a way for us to go directly to the Father, not through a priest or animal sacrifice, for He bridged the gap between us and the Father by becoming the final sacrifice lamb.  Jesus paid the price so that we would no longer be separated from God.  Through the blood of Jesus, we have forgiveness of sin and that allows us to come to the Father using Jesus’ name.

John 16: 33 (NLT) 33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

John 20:31 (NLT) 31 But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.

John 18:4-6 (NLT) 4 Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him, so he stepped forward to meet them. “Who are you looking for?” he asked. 5 “Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied. “I AM he,” Jesus said. (Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.) 6 As Jesus said, “I AM he,” they all drew back and fell to the ground!

Philippians 2: 5-11 (NLT) 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.  6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.  7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.  9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Richelle’s Thought: Everything that Jesus did was for the glory of God.  Jesus was powerful because He was humble.  The humbler we are, the more power we will have. Everything we do should be for the glory of God, not for ourselves.
