Don’t Forget
Billy Graham, “Nothing can replace a daily time spent alone with God in prayer.”
Billy Graham once said, “At its deepest level, prayer is fellowship with God: enjoying His company, waiting upon His will, thanking Him for His mercies . . . listening in the silence for what He has to say to us.”
Penned Truth: The table is where a deep connection and communion with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are taking place.
John 15:4 (ESV) 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
John 15:4 (AMPC) 4 Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.
Isaiah 55:3 says, “Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live.”
Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you.”
Matthew 17:5 5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.
Penned Truth: Listening for God’s voice takes two constant disciplines, persistence and endurance.
Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Thesaurus | Persistence: Continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition, or previous failure.
Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary | Endurance: The ability to withstand hardship or adversity especially the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity
Penned Truth: Resilient people will power through to the other side. They are people who are consistent, steady, and refuse to be interrupted.
Penned Truth: Only a constant lifestyle lived at the table will produce the relationship needed between God and the Church.
2 Corinthians 4:18 (ESV) 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen….
Final Statement: We will never tune in to God’s frequency to hear and know His voice unless we establish a consistent rhythm and routine for our devotional life at the table. To talk with God, we must approach prayer as a conversation rooted in His Word, guided by His Spirit, and filled with trust and submission. We must surrender our will to have a deeper intimacy with Him. We must be more aware that we need to still our hearts and minds and sit quietly, then ask God to speak to our hearts. “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). This discipline takes time, but it is crucial for moving from talking at God to talking with Him. Shut The Door!
